Venus Medrano supports the Center’s capacity to meet the needs for student success and advance public education. As an Administrative Manager, She has the ability to guide the Center to reach their strategic goals to work collectively with compassion to uplift students and educators. Previously, Venus worked in numerous issue-based campaigns as well as local and federal political campaigns in Los Angeles such as Bernie Sanders for President 2020. Venus also served California as the Staff Assistant for Kamala Harris in her U.S. Senate Office in Sacramento. Prior to working in public service, Venus also worked as an Educational Service Administrative Assistant with the Association for California Administrators. Venus is determined to use her years of experience fighting for racial justice in the legislative and electoral process to be refocused on supporting teachers and students accessibility in public education.
As a student advocate, she was elected to represent over 2.3 million students at the Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC) from 2012-2014. In her years of representing the organization she trained and organized students on how to advocate for higher education reform through remote and statewide organizing. She is the first of her family to earn a four-year degree from California State University Sacramento. Venus dedicates her time to volunteer for the Los Angeles community in humanitarian projects for immigrants and unhoused members of the community. Venus is a lifelong student that enjoys traveling and learning about global history.
