Kelly Gallagher Nick
Director of Educational Services

Kelly Gallagher Nick oversees our Powerful Educator and Powerful Pathway programs and services with the able assistance of our Educational Specialists. Earlier in her tenure with the Center, she collaborated with faculty at UCLA Center X to recruit, train, and support mentor teachers for UCLA’s Urban Teacher Residency program. She has been a consulting LAUSD and LACOE BTSA Support Provider, mentoring new teachers; and has also been a lead support provider, coaching others on mentoring techniques. She is trained in Cognitive Coaching, Adaptive Schools, National Equity Project, and SFCESS Equity based groups. Ms. Gallagher Nick has presented nationally on student engagement, student centered culture, culturally relevant pedagogy, and teacher efficacy.

Prior to her work as a teacher educator, Ms. Nick spent 17 years teaching in a full inclusion independent school where she was instrumental in planning curriculum, conducting parenting classes, supervising student teachers, peer mentoring, and providing professional development workshops for the faculty. After leaving the classroom, Ms. Nick created curriculum for The Eisner Foundation and the Timeline of American Race Relations.
