Standing With Our Communities: A Message of Solidarity from Center for Powerful Public Schools

The Center for Powerful Public Schools stands in solidarity with our beloved Los Angeles community.

We recognize and honor the deep and ongoing contributions of immigrant families who shape the spirit and strength of this city and this country. We believe in their brilliance, their drive, their integrity—and their right to be seen, safe, and supported.

In a city rising in response to fear and injustice, our classrooms, campuses, and communities must rise with it. We know that when communities are under threat, schools become more than places of learning—they become spaces of safety, healing, and hope.

Our work with schools and districts has always centered those in the margins: students and families who, to live, must lead daily revolutions against low expectations while navigating systemic barriers with courage and strength each day.

We know that when families live in fear, students carry that weight into the classroom. The threat of separation, instability, or discrimination creates trauma that no child should bear—and no school should have to normalize.

We are reminded that schools do not exist apart from our communities—they reflect them.

In this moment, we recommit to our purpose: walking alongside educators, standing with families, and building public schools that are not only academically strong—but safe, welcoming, and deeply human spaces where all students are seen, supported, and empowered. We remain resolute—rooted in compassion and driven by our belief that every student deserves to learn and thrive in a community that honors their full humanity.
